a 23 dollar round trip...

to L.A. on the mega bus = oh so worth it.

let me explain. there's this thing here called the Mega Bus that is equivalent IF NOT superior to the FUNG HWA bus. sometimes you can find a round trip deal for $1!

anyway.

i almost miss catching the bus in Oakland because Oakland is freakin GHETTO and scary at 11 30 pm. well that's only an excuse for my parents getting lost and the three of us almost getting a divorce while trying to find ourselves somewhere familiar and bright. we finally get to the station at 12:02 after having frantically called my friend to hold up the bus for about 5 minutes. whew-y.

the bus itself is ok. lots of people and really uncomfortable to spend the night on. but whatever. 9 bucks.

we get to union station in downtown L.A. around 630 am. David picks us up... and then...

1. universal city -- except everythign is closed because it's only 730 am. so we go to...

2. Millie's on Sunset for breakfast. the breakfast burritos are HUMONGOUS. (pictures on facebook)

3. Graumann's Chinese Theater and Walk of Fame on Hollywood. this place never gets old for me. PLUS Holly Hunter was receiving her star that day! (i reserved a place for my star btw... )

4. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. um. FAB.U.LOUS. except seriously, everyone was blonde and wearing extremely rich preppy clothes. AND all hte women were blonde except the occasional black-haired tourists holding cameras and wearing 6 inch platform sneakers and juicy training clothes.

5. Santa Monica Pier. GORGEOUS day at hte beach! not the cleanest water nor softest sand... and their version of a boardwalk = dinky. buttttt gorgeous day!!!!!!

6. Sony Pictures... (or what used to be known as MGM, currently home to both Sony and Columbia) --> I SAW JON CHO I SAW JON CHO! we were passing by this asian man in black, and of course no one notices but Stalker Jan who whispers shadily "i love you jon" and JON hears me and says "thanks" really shyly and gives me a smile. HA! IT WAS ALL ME BABY! Lot 25 = fred astaire's favorite lot. Lot 27 = Gene Kelly's favorite lot.

7. UCLA = great campus. and great dorms. damn. puts BU to shame honestly. we check out Jane's place...and then...

8. K-town. bar 1= 길목, bar 2 = 단성사, bar 3 = 뒷골막, bar 4 =토방 and then 팅카팅카 for kareoke.
too many shots of soju/yogurt soju to count, probably horrid ear-lasting singing... and completely not sober. BEST TIME EVER!

9. Santa Monica to pass out at Mel's place.

DAY 2 ~

1. a later start than the day before (THANK GOD). breakfast at Downtown Pasadena - Crepe Vines (fabulous!)

2. Literati Cafe (back in Santa Monica) with Ryan!!!

3. Downtown Culver City with Winnie the Gu. Dinner at Baby Greens (?) and Wine at Ugo.

4. back at Union Station by 11 PM.

SO in short, it was a CRAZY, AMAZING trip. i caught up with some old friends, grabbed some great food, saw some sort of a celebrity, and got drunk as a Bonus. It made me realize that I still had long ways to go and it DEFINITELY will take a lot more then WANT to make it in LA. The place is filled with places asking you to give up your money and your willpower... it was a perfect reminder that I'm gonna need greater faith and conviction than what anybody or thing could tell me.

I'm TIRED AND SICK AND POOR. but oh SO excited! :D :D

Your post makes me want to take a spur of the moment trip out to LA...

Don't worry about the car debt. You can pay that back easily after you become famous :)
