aka the newly crowned "Flight Deck" (since effin when!?) is still the best ride at Great America. After, nearly 7 years of starving myself of silicon valley's mediocre roller coaster scene... i broke my fast today... and pleasantly, had a stupendous time.
the rap sheet (as I recall, not in order):
vortex x 1 = the most head rattling ride there. and very lamely short.
invertigo x 2 = dizzyingly fast but ridiculously slow line pace due to the single car.
surviver x 1 = looks STUPID because it's based on SURVIVOR, but it's REALLY FUN!
delirium x 1 = a faster, more thrilling version of Survivor minus the hoke PLUS loud teens throwing away their flipflops.
drop zone x 2 = still the scariest ride there due to the suspension of heightened fear of heights. plus you can't even scream due to the fear that your shirt may actually fly off... @.@
flight deck aka top gun x 3 = my favorite ride. comfortable, fast, and fun.
demon x 1 = eh! standard.
grizzly x 1 = charming in it's own wooden standard sorta way. incidentally voted the worst wooden roller coaster in the country for awoighaewfawgazillion years.
rip roaring rapids x 3 = ok. let me explain. it was 50 degrees and freezing. we decide to go on anyway to celebrate the fact that it was slightly warmer than the morning. we get slightly splashed the first time...thoroughly soaked the second time... and utterly DRENCHED the third time. our jeans look plastered onto our legs, up the ass crack for the rest of the day - 5 hours - and everyone who sits in our seats after us gives us dirty looks. the rest is history.
sponge bob "where's my patty" fx theater x 1 = so what if we were surrounded by 1st graders?!! the 3-d glasses were way cool and i've never laughed so hard during a ride.
i'm a sucker for those fx rides!!!
u.s. endeavor (or Viking) x 1 = don't you love the extreme pressure of the chest guard squeezing against your... chest(s)?... -__-. viking used to be better.
delta flyer x 2 = takes you across the park without having to walk 3 miles. enough said.
bumper cars x 1 = how does the reverse work on those things?!!! and why do i derive so much pleasure out of crashing into 10 year olds?!!
TOTAL = 12 different rides, 20 total.
not tooooo shabby for a 7 hour day. although, i will forever have welts from wearing wet denim.
***
a TOTALLY different topic.
one of the greatest factors in my life is .... TIMING.
it validates some of my utmost beliefs.
and it shakes some of my strongest convictions.
sometimes i wish it wasn't as scary having it be totally out of my control.
