so, nizzaluary have been watching the seasons of "How I Met Your Mother" (courtesy of 20$ seasons at Target) and have decided that our lives are utterly exemplified by that show. we prove this by a) obnoxiously exclaiming "OMG, REMEMBER THAT ONE EPISODE WHERE TED AND ROBIN AND BARNEY AND LILYPAD AND MARSHMELLOW DO THIS?" (b) giving eachother hypothetical highfives every 5 seconds and simultaneously stating, "nice" in a sing-songy voice. and (c) by reminding ourselves and the unfortunate souls around us that we indeed ARE the inspirations for the characters and that they should really watch it with us since we are all willing ot rewatch every single episode.
i am not going to pretend that i'm NOT proud of the fact that my friends and i feel our lives should and is like a sitcom. let me divulge in the details of our "typically atypical" Saturday:
1. we head over to SF for a nice day filled with tanning out on a nudist beach. we carpool seperately and of course, get there 2 hours later than planned (my car, due to a spontaneous trip to grab Pho, and allen/nate/ousi/jenn's car, due to a spontaneous trip ALSO to pho AND KFC) to a gloriously CLOUDY and BLISTERY day at the beach. we manage to spread our sheets anyway and create human insulation to keep ourselves warm. we snack on home-made egg/pickle sandwiches, courtesy of Izzy, delirious with cabin fever... on korean snacks that Allen brings... and the beer that Nathan as supplied... which he promptly kills 5 bottles of. After laughing crazily about nothing and shouting out "DOG IN A BAG DOG IN A BAG" about 10 times, we spot some dolphins swimming somewhat close to shore. naturally, allen starts to run towards them, grasping his camera, and we are somewhat stunned out of our stupid yet brilliant wittiness. we decide, after several trips, individually of course, to the porta potties that it is JUST TOO EFFIN COLD. time to go kill some time before hitting up a planned dinner at the Lobster Shack!
2. Haight street. except we don't do anything and we constantly, or shall I say, Izzy, wonder aloud, "why are we here again?" some eye shopping for some... a cup of coffee at an amazing crepe place that stocks containers of nutella that I almost steal on the way out... and we wonder again, "so, why are we here?"
3. Lobster shack. except, life isn't that easy. by this time, SF has snuggled into the damp and pervasive arms of the Mist. two cars struggle against gravity in a plight to find some parking. except we don't succeed until almost an hour and a half later. We settle in, expecting some AMAZING lobster rolls...except the appetizers worth of clam chowder basically "creams" everyone's appetite with it's salty lukewarm temperature. we decidedly decide that the efforts to park was not worth it and loiter for a bit outside during which a bum asks me, "what is your name?" I reply, "J" (my code name. pretty clever eh?). then the bum asks Ousi. and she promptly replies, "My name is...O...?" she giggles apologetically while we crack up in laughter cuasing hte bum to label us as "crazy kids." .... oh the irony.
4. we decide to split up while izzy and i grab something at her work, and the rest of hte crew heads back down to SJ. After some massive texting back and forth, we decide that we're gonna go BOWLING, except Izzy and I secretly try to lure hte folks back to milpitas to sit in her hottub. doesn't work because Allen's car stalls and he requires AAA to come and jumpstart his car. and of course, our sitcom like friendship requires us to follow the code of "ONE MAN DOWN, ALL MEN DOWN." izzy and i immediately head back down to SJ, and we realize that Allen's car is ok afterall. so bowling it is.
5. BOWLING. i'm on a roll. two strikes in a row, 2 spares in a row, i break 100 too! and then, woops, the lanes are closing... in the middle of our 2nd game. the only thing to savage from this is izzy's brilliant reply to Nathan. Witness our BRILLIANCE PLEASEEE: Nathan, "i want my balls to go faster!" Izzy "that's what SHE SAID!"
6. Dennys. Ihops isn't open 24 hours a day, did you know that? So we go to Denny's instead. i order my pancakes that iv'e been craving all day. and nathan sips on two cups of water. HE should be going to hollywood. not me! and finally. home. 430 am.
the world seems to be spinning even as I type this in bed.
all i can say is... LEGENDARY.
