Inside the Actor's Studio...

is actually a priceless series. James Lipton, in his creepy, penetrating, monotone way, pries out one of the most genuine and candid interviews out of stars as lofty and intimidating as Angelina Jolie.

During her episode, fyi, Angelina talks about her cutting herself. she's so uninhibited and completely honest about it. which both freaks me out and inspires me at the same time.

Watching ITAS, I realized several things about actors... wait, GOOD ACTORS:

1. they have a methodical process of "living in the moment." Finding that place, and utilizing their own experiences to stay truthful. Acting is truly a technique. It is a study of empathy, an intense preparation, and a totally consuming occupation.

2. they are total dorks. and really intellectual nerds.

3. They all are "dancers" who ride on internal rhthym and rely on their movements to relay character.

4. broken families are a common trend.

5. they love the curse word "Fuck"

6. they are so in love with what they do and they feel very privileged to be doing what they do.
